Where Now?

This tutorial contains pretty much all the Java3D I have done. I have made it as simple and clear as I can partly because it makes it easier for me to understand. It follows from this that when you run into the inevitable problems with this code don’t ask me –your guess is entirely as good as mine. Emails asking me why things don’t work, what else I know or whether I want to help you get a private fortune out of Nigeria will all be roundly ignored. Unless you want to pay whatever exhorbitant consulting fees my boss has thought up, in which case I’m all ears. (Since I first wrote this tutorial, I have become my own boss, which means that although my boss is still liable to come up with exhorbitant consulting fees, they at least match a common tariff and I'm very happy to write code for money. Find out more at my working homepage, here.) The main reason not to ask me questions is that although I am mostly clueless there are plenty of excellent people, who really know what they’re talking about to be found on sites like www.javagaming.org and on the Java3D interest mailing list - even Sun’s Java discussion forums can be useful on occasion. I’m a regular on both of those sites (you'll recognise me as "Breakfast") and you’re far more likely to get an answer there than if you mail me.

If you wan’t more tutorials or more specific ones why not take a look at http://www.j3d.org which covers all manner of useful information and if you’re passing a book shop why not take a look at Daniel Selman’s very good “Java 3D Programming” which I have found to be by far the best book on Java3D. More recently Andrew Davison has released a book called Killer Game Programming With Java which features some very good Java3D stuff. Finally, when all else fails you, don’t forget that the JavaDoc is your friend. Keep it as your browser homepage so you never have to miss out on it’s comprehensive documentationy goodness. You will need it.

That’s all from me- I hope this has been useful and informative, or at least useful or informative and good luck with all your future Java3D projects. And your past ones.

Happy Programming…
